When: Nov 8, 2012 (Thursday)
Desc: An in-depth lecture style training to educate attendees about productively building software applications using a modified agile approach.
CODE is now offering a unique crash course in the software development process that is making us so successful. During the course of a day, our instructors will discuss how we're using the best parts of existing methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, TDD and Waterfall to produce reliable results. Whether the project involves green-field design or is a conversion or modernization of an existing application, we'll show you how to choose appropriate methodologies as well as how to keep those methodologies from taking over your project. We'll show you how to get the right people involved and how to avoid being trapped by developers who keep telling you, "You just don't understand". We'll show you how to set up a training program that keeps your project moving forward at a predictable pace and makes it far more maintainable without falling into "refactoring" black holes. We'll discuss approaches that get results and how to avoid those that consume more effort than their benefits justify. Finally, we'll show you how to achieve outstanding communication with your clients so they're always up to speed on where the project stands, what has been done, and what is left to do and enables them to prioritize resources to fit their business. This will not only take some of the pressure off you, but will alleviate many of the deadline dramas that suck the life out of great teams.
The training class will be held at our offices in Houston, Texas as well as online via GoToMeeting. After the class, attendees will receive the powerpoint slides and videos of each class as reference materials.
