Designers & Developers SIG (D2SIG) - September 2010
September 7, 2010 | Houston, TX
This event took place on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Houston-Area D2 SIG Meeting for Silverlight & WPF Designers and Developers
Where: Microsoft-Houston Offices (2000 West Sam
Houston Parkway)
When: September 7 (first Tuesday of each month) - 6:00 –
8:00PM
Why: A free discussion on the latest Microsoft
designer and developer technologies
This special interest group (SIG) is a community effort open to all interested
participants. Each month, a different presenter from various organizations will
present to interested attendees. The group is dedicated to exploring modern user
experiences (UX) which are part computer programming and part artistic design.
While traditionally there has been little overlap in the two disciplines, users
now expect a good experience with a professional look. Covered topics will range
from development in Silverlight, WPF and related technologies such as Microsoft
Surface to design of rich interactive experience for graphical designers. The
group strives to provide a good balance of content that appeals to both
developers and designers.
This month's meeting will be presented by Cheryl Wise of
WiserWays LLC
The session will be:
Developing Web Sites with CSS Style Standards
"Style standards improve the accessibility and usability of web sites"...
This principle has been accepted by the development community for some time and CSS continues to be a mainstay for developing web sites with consistent styles.
What is not clear are the development patterns and best practices for creating CSS-based web sites.
Cheryl will walk through the process of creating a web site, structuring the site and styling a page with a CSS template. The focus of the presentation will be the implementation of CSS throughout the site development process so that the CSS template can be used in any other web pages created for the site
