Attendees will learn why and when they would use either of these technologies and they will gain a good understanding of how to do so. This event can be booked as a single day event or in combination with the other XAML Week classes.
This event took place on Monday, December 6, 2010.

When: Dec 6, 2010 (Monday)
Desc: An in-depth lecture style training to educate attendees about WPF & SilverLight
CODE Training and EPS Software will be holding an intensive 1-day lecture style boot-camp on WPF & Silverlight specifically designed for developers of business applications who wish to learn the latest Microsoft .NET technologies
and judge the impact of these technologies on their future development efforts.
This class will also be helpful in providing a decision guide as to when to use
WPF and when to use Silverlight. The training class will be held at our offices in Houston, Texas as well as online via GoToMeeting. After the class, attendees will receive the powerpoint slides, the code samples and videos of each class as reference materials.
This class is part of our "XAML Week" Event. Classes can be booked as individual days or you can book the entire week of related classes at a significant discount.

Introduction to WPF & Silverlight This session introduces the general concepts behind WPF and Silverlight and shows various examples that highlight the benefit of these technologies over other UI approaches available. This session also starts on ongoing comparison of Silverlight vs. WPF (which will continue throughout the day). This session also introduces XAML (the markup language that drives most WPF/SL UIs) and other core concepts. |

Building a XAML-based UI This session shows how to build user interfaces "the right way". This session starts with an introduction of various WPF/SL UI Design tools (including Visual Studio and Expression Blend). The session then guides the attendee from a simplistic and conventional UI approach (as it is used by other UI environments, such as WinForms or HTML) to a more modern approach that takes advantage of WPF and Silverlight's paradigms. |

13:30 – 14:45 |
Further WPF/SL UI Techniques
This session continues the exploration of creating Silverlight and WPF UIs by taking a closer look at concepts such as data binding, automatic layout, view models, templates, and much more. |

15:00 – 16:30 |
Other WPF/SL Concepts
This session discusses various topics that have gone unexplained so far, including deployment options (both in WPF and Silverlight with a good look at the differences). This session also takes a look at topics such as 3D (with a detailed exploration of the differences between WPF and Silverlight), graphics acceleration (one again, with an exploration of the differences between WPF and Silverlight), graphics rendering (vector art), animations, a closer look at resource management, and much more. |
